The Brewhouse at Burgundy’s, 19 Lowther Street, Kendal, Cumbria
5 November 2013 – 31 January 2014
“I live in Kendal and have recently taken a studio in the Market Square along with several other Green Door artists. I mainly paint landscapes, working in pastel, watercolour or acrylic. When I’m out walking, I take photographs to gather material, then develop ideas through sketches in the studio.
“The work in this exhibition is inspired by walks along Scottish shorelines where I have found myself drawn to the detail at my feet – the lichens and plants that cling to the rocks and the intricate forms of the rocks themselves.”
“I’m aiming for an abstract look while retaining an element of reality, such as a small flower, to provide scale and draw your eye into the picture.
“I’m also showing some of my reference photographs so you can see where ideas for my work originate.”
