Low Sizergh Barn, Sizergh, near Kendal
6 May – 30 June 2016
A solo exhibition of watercolours from Sally Bamber. Sally tells us “I work from my studio in the Duddon Valley making watercolours of mostly wildflowers. Painting in watercolour began with studying the flowers in my garden as a way of familiarising myself with our new home on moving to Cumbria in 2008.”
“I started showing at open house trails through fellow artists and Green Door, then took part in ArtFest North in 2011, which resulted in being invited to exhibit at Brantwood, Coniston, in 2015, a two-year project which allowed me to spend time in their gardens and the hay-meadow getting to know the small, unassuming wild flowers. I produced two books as a result of this project, both of which are available to view on line here. I am also a graphic designer, I run workshops at Brantwood, in portrait painting, life drawing and this year I am running a watercolour workshop ‘Painting flowers at Brantwood’.”
“I am thrilled to be showing at Low Sizergh Barn, I love the concept of the place and have shopped here on many occasions, after putting the show up on the 5th May I bought a litre of their raw milk from the amazing machine which never closes!”
Low Sizergh Barn is open Mon to Sat, 9.30-5.00 and Sun 10.00-5.00.
