The Brewhouse at Burgundys, Lowther Street, Kendal
4 August to 31 October 2016
This solo exhibition from Averyl Bradbrook is the result of several painting holidays and other travels in Southern Spain.
“The painting holidays have been based at a “Finca” in the mountainous region which lies to the north east of Malaga. It is a fertile region of terraced slopes on which grow olives, vines, avocados, and citrus fruit, with small “pueblos blancos” (white towns) with steep, narrow streets perched on top of the hills.”
“The paintings use a variety of techniques, such as pen and wash, rubbed acrylic on collaged papers, or palette knife, and some are largely representational whilst others are abstract works. Nevertheless, all are inspired by the landscape, the colour, the traditions and the passions of this wonderful part of Spain which is Andalucia.”
The Brewhouse at Burgundy’s is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10.30-5.00 pm.
