You can access our brochure online here. This will tell you about each of our 26 participating artists and where to find them. Hard copy brochures can be picked up at the venues during the trail or from a selection of venues in advance.

1. Space2Create

Directions: Through Kendal head along New Road over the bridge onto Aynam Road. Ignore the first turn and keep in the left-hand lane. Take the next left and immediately left again into The Factory. As you pass in front of the Tap Bar, access to Space2Create, Unit 31 is first right. For parking keep straight on into the main parking area.
Accessibility: Space2Create has disabled access through the green door, has disabled toilet facilities and doorways are wide enough for a wheelchair to pass through. There is plenty of seating for visitors. Parking available close to the unit. Refreshments available
2. The Factory

3. Spring Gardens

Directions: Best parking is either the M&S or Booths car parks, both of which are five minutes’ walk from the studio. From M&S walk round the back and up through the park. From Booths walk from the back and up onto Low Fellside, turn right from the car park past the bollard and on towards the half- timbered Grandy Nook. Spring Gardens is a set of cottages set up from the road just after a cobbled lane, looking down into the Nobles Rest park. Number 11 is the last one.
Accessibility: Eight stone steps up from the road to the gardens in the front of Spring Gardens. No wheelchair access. Natural stone path which can be slippery in very wet weather

Directions: Located just up from the Town hall and below and opposite Wetherspoons. Limited parking on street or pay and display at Booths.
Accessibility: Very small step/threshold. Limited space and awkward doors make it a little unsuitable for wheelchairs.

Directions: You will find the Athenaeum Hall on the main road that runs through Heversham and Leasgill. This runs parallel to the A6 (Princes Way). There is plenty of parking at the hall including disabled bays.
Accessibility: There is a ramp leading up to the hall entrance from the car park. There is also a disabled toilet in the hall.
Cafe: There is a cafe raising money for Aziza’s Place, a nonprofit learning and development center for underprivileged children in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Visit azizasplace.org
7. Compton House

Directions: Driving south from Kendal, take Natland Road. As you come into the village, bear LEFT towards the Village Green. Compton House is the first house on your right. It is diagonally across the Green from the church.
Accessibility: My work will be spread between my small garden studio and my house. Access to the house is level, but there are 3 steps to my studio.
8. Abbey Cottage

Directions: From Kendal: drive south alongside the river Kent on Natland Road. As you come into Natland turn left into the village. Drive around the village green past St Mark’s Church turn left into Helm Lane. Abbey Cottage is the first house on the left after the churchyard. There is parking on Helm Lane and around the village green.
Accessibility: Art work is displayed in the studio and kitchen. There is easy and flat access via the drive to the studio and kitchen. There are two small steps into the kitchen and one small step into the studio.
9. Thea Riley Ceramics

Directions: My pottery is at the bottom of Helm Lane opposite the beautiful historic church in Natland just off the green. Lots of parking around. I’ll be providing refreshments for sale. There will be plenty of signage to direct you.
Accessibility: Easy access, disabled access available however limited space in pottery
10. The Studio

Directions: The Studio is located at The Courtyard Gallery, which is half-way up Boroughgate, Appleby’s main street, on the right hand side. Access is along a passageway then across a cobbled courtyard. Street parking is available in the town centre and is free using parking discs, which are available from the studio, or any shop in town. They aren’t needed on Sunday.
Accessibility: The Studio is accessed across a cobbled courtyard and is on the ground floor but unsuitable for wheelchairs
11. William Heelis Office

Directions: On the Main Street, Hawkshead, in the pale yellow National Trust building that once housed the Beatrix Potter exhibition. We are diagonally opposite the Co-op store. Plenty of parking in the main car park at the other end of the village, a couple of minutes walk from the venue.
Accessibility: Historic National Trust building with narrow entrance and uneven steps. No wheelchair access or prams.
12. Speckled Wood

Directions: From the A590 follow the signs for the ever-wonderful Witherslack Artists and Makers Group exhibition, which is taking place in Barwick Hall next to St Paul’s Church, Witherslack, there you will see the Green Door Art Trail sign for Speckled Wood. Please park on Church Road.
