Debbie lives in Silverdale, a small village on Morecambe Bay and her work is heavily influenced by the sea and the estuary.
Debbie works with traditional stained glass materials to produce a range of unique bird and animal sculptures. Using glass, lead and wood as her materials she takes the graceful lines of a bird to create a silhouette which is then brought to life using coloured glass and mounted on driftwood. She tries hard to capture the jizz of her subjects by using traditional stained glass painting techniques to add detail and driftwood and wire enhancements to add depth and movement.
She also captures her favourite subjects in traditional stained glass panels and commissions are most welcome. She undertakes doors, windows as well as smaller or more personalised commemorative pieces.
You can keep up to date with her latest commissions and exhibitions by checking out her blog at debbiesshed.com.
Debbie works from her home studio in Silverdale, lovingly known as Debbie’s Shed and you can visit her there by appointment or pop along on one of her regular Open Studio days, (usually last Friday of each month). Details can be found on her blog.
