I am a mixed media artist specialising in handmade books. Although I do make sketchbooks and notebooks for practical use my main focus is on using different folding methods to create sculptural artists’ books. I am fascinated by the many ways 2D sheets of paper can be turned into 3D structures.
Over the past year or so I have been working with different printmaking techniques mainly lino cut and drypoint. I’m using the prints to make 3D structures as well as on the covers of sketchbooks but also feel confident enough now to frame some of the results and have been very pleased with the feedback (and sales) received at events.
I do still work with recycled text and maps in my work but this is now usually for commissions as people really want the map or text to be meaningful to them. Commissioned work can sometimes be nerve-racking, but is very satisfying when you get it right.
