Sam Harrison artist

A member of Green Door since Feb 2022, I joined Steering in Jun 2022. As a new member to Green Door, I am keen to understand how things work, get involved, and hopefully bring a ‘new member’ perspective.

I am also new to the world of being an artist. Although I loved art at school, for the past 35 years I have followed a science-based career path initially as an Aeronautical Engineer, then Project Management of large-scale Engineering programmes. Recent events in my life however have allowed me to re-evaluate what is important, giving me the opportunity and courage to leave work, pick up my paint brushes once more and let loose the artist inside me.

Currently based in Ulverston, I grew up in Kendal which instilled in me a life-long love the fells and the Cumbrian landscape. Rather than strive to recreate a realistic representation, my aim is to create atmospheric, and tactile paintings that are triggered by a colour, a mood or texture of the landscape. I work primarily in acrylics and mixed media on canvas.

I look forward to continuing to learn and develop my art practice as well as supporting other artists within the Green Door family.

Lynn Fotheringham

Lynn FotheringhamI spent most of my career as a wallpaper and furnishing textile designer. When I finally gave this up, I couldn’t face a paintbrush for the next 15 years! I finally returned to painting via a circuitous route approx four years ago.

I am endlessly fascinated by abstraction and I now sell abstract landscape paintings in Arteria in Lancaster and in Wolf House Gallery in Silverdale. I live in Over Kellet, north of Lancaster.
