My love affair with oils began a few years ago when I joined an art group working 'plein air' in Crete. Until then I had worked mostly with acrylics, but I knew they would dry too quickly outside in a mediterranean summer. Since then I have continued to explore the medium of oils, as much in the studio as outdoors. I love the way they can be blended to create subtle effects, as well as used more directly to give richness. Just occasionally I return to acrylics, especially using acrylic inks over paper collage or in a mixed media design.
As well as being a member of Green Door, I belong to EVAN (the Eden Valley Art Network) and exhibit in their gallery in Penrith, and I am a member of CACA (Carlisle and Cumbria Artists), exhibiting annually in the fratry at Carlisle Cathedral.
