Libby is a textile artist specialising in regenerative materiality, exploring a growing convergence of art, design, ecology and holistic anthropology for a deepening sense of shared responsibility. Libby values traceability, spotlighting tier 4 of the textile supply chain; plant based raw materials. In promotion of material circularity Libby designs ecologically relevant art pieces, with an experimental combination of plant based wovens, fibre and plant paper pulp. Libby’s immersive and abstract artistic process takes cues from plant lifecycles and organic structures to inspire conceptual and visual design. Through the sensual experience of hand processing natural fibre from seed to cloth, Libby explores a renewal of traditional, slow craft processes and techniques, within a fine art context. Unique materiality created is a celebration of the viability and versatility of cellulose fibre, most notably flax & hemp, in its raw state, recycled, and end of life.

Libby previously studied woven textiles at Loughborough University developing a passion for heritage craft and material truth and origins. Libby explores the supply chains of her materials having harvested and processed cotton in Rajasthan, hemp in Suffolk and nettles from her own garden. Libby’s degree collection, ‘Perennial Dormancy’ won The Worshipful Company of Weavers Woven Textile Design Award, New Designers 2024 for innovation in weave.
