Marjorie describes herself as a ‘true Cumbrian'. She was born into a farming family, a background which gives her an acute understanding of the shapes, colours, smells and patterns in the ancient landscape near her home.

Working en plein air, sketching, painting and storing information to make work informed by being in the landscape in amongst the elements, often returning to the same place time a time again.

Back in the studio, she works with keen energy and expressiveness.
