I paint flowers in watercolour, loving the lesser known varieties and enjoy watching them as they appear and grow, blossom and flower, and gently fade and fall to feed the ground through winter.
I tutor at Brantwood and new courses are being planned. I exhibit at Cartmel Ground Gallery in Cartmel. Both galleries have a collection of my framed or mounted watercolour paintings of flowers, herbs and plants, and watercolour flower paintings made up as handmade sketchbooks by book artist and printmaker Elizabeth Shorrock, who uses hand dyed threads with matching colours to stitch the sketchbooks together.
I am at The Medicine Garden in Union Street, Ulverston, where you can find herb paintings from our book ‘Herbal Chronicles’. Medical Herbalist Sarah Atkinson and I worked together to create this book, it contains many of the herbs and plants that Sarah uses to help people, you can also find creams and tinctures that are mentioned in the book, such as Calendula, Comfrey and Rose Creams.
Plants and flowers feature more and more in my work. I love charcoal and have been working with charcoal and watercolour together. For me drawing and painting are a form of meditation.
