I am a figurative artist specialising in portraits, either full length or head and shoulders. I normally work from photos but I always make a point of meeting and getting to know the people I paint. I work in a range of media including oil, acrylic, gouache and watercolour and I enjoy the flexibility this gives me. While it is not unusual for artists working in a representational/naturalistic style to become increasingly more abstract in their approach, my own development has followed an opposite trajectory, from abstract multi-media work to a focus on the the human figure in a range of settings. Character, atmosphere and frequently a sense of mystery have all become features of my practice.
I have a background in contemporary art and an MA in Fine Art from Camberwell College, University of the Arts London. My work is in private collections both in the UK and in Italy and I have exhibited widely in London, Lancashire and Cumbria.
I am available for portrait commissions and I can be contacted at steve.trevillion@gmail.com. I am always happy to provide information about prices, materials etc on request. My website steventrevillionart.com contains comprehensive examples of my work over the last ten years.
