Full Details and Submission Form for Exhibition at Kendal Museum, Friday 18th August – Saturday 30th September 2023

Please find below all the details you need and the link to the Jotform to apply for our upcoming Exhibition ‘on Display’ in the People’s Gallery at Kendal Museum, starting 18th August.


Theme: ‘On Display’. A reflection of the venue for the exhibition with its myriad displays, and the artists expression of not only these but the world around us.

Artist Statement: A short statement (max 100 words) about your work including how it links to the theme.

Submission date and selection: Digital images of work are to be submitted to Green Door by 10:00 am on Monday 24th July. Please label your images with your name and title of the piece before inserting in the submission form. Selection will be by Green Door and Kendal Museum. Artists will be advised of their selection by Friday 28th July. Link to the Jotform can be found HERE or click the link at the bottom of the page.

Art Forms: Artists may submit up to three pieces of 2D, 3D or digital work. All work must be original, no reproductions will be permitted. A maximum of 3 browser items and fifteen cards etc. may be submitted. There are some glass cabinets and window shelves for display of small items.

Cost: There will be a non-refundable administration fee for each artist of £20, to be paid with the submission directly into Green Door’s bank account, details of which are given below. Applications will not be considered if the fee has not been paid.

Reference: Please add your Name/KM as a reference, as without it, we can’t track who has paid or confirm it as an admin fee for the Kendal Museum exhibition).

Commission: The Museum will take their standard commission of 35% (incl. VAT) on sold work.

Presentation of work: All framing needs to be of good quality with no clip frames. 2D work should be fitted with D rings that can be attached to the Museum’s hanging system. All work needs to be delivered with the artist’s name and title of work on the back, and a label hanging in-front of the work with the name, title and price.
Work should be delivered to the Museum between 10:00am and 11:00am on Wednesday 16th August.

Collection of sold work: Local purchasers will be asked to leave work until the end of the exhibition. Those from farther afield will be allowed to take work at the time of purchase. The artist will be responsible for liaising and agreeing with the buyer, arrangements and costs for packaging and posting if requested by the purchaser.

Collection of unsold work: Unsold work is to be collected from the Museum Monday 1st October between 3:00 – 4:00pm.

Payment for sold work: The Museum will pay Green Door, who will then forward payment to the artist.

Preview: There will be a preview on Friday 18th August, 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Contact Sheet: There will be an information sheet including participating artist’s contact details, available for visitors to take away with them. You will be asked on the application Jotform if you agree to your contact details e.g. Website/Instagram/Facebook/email, being included.
